The Aftermath

So right about now, there is a mass pile of ripped wrapping paper strewn carelessly across the floor, empty mugs of hot chocolate and eggnog forgotten on the coffee table, and many full-tummies contentedly tucked into bed. Christmas has finally come and passed. All the anticipation and preparation – from the shopping to the food to the travel – all that’s left are the fading poinsettias, little crumbs from the eaten cookies, and that warm glow that can only be achieved by a delicious meal accompanied with good company. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday, and that it’s been filled with peace and joy that will last you through the new year.

The holidays are a wonderful time of year, but somehow the preparation always weighs down the festive mood. All that time spent slaving in the kitchen or waiting in long lines at the mall. The stress that comes with buying the perfect present for that perfect someone. It’s exhausting! Now that Christmas is over, it’s time for a breather, and a victory dance, and a few blog entries, because…..

Gingerbread Macarons filled with Spiced Buttercream


I have successfully made French macarons! My life is essentially complete. I have conquered these bad boys – the epitome of ridiculous French pastry technique. I did it. I am now dancing around the kitchen. Woot woot. More pictures, recipes and notes will be up soon, but just thought I’d put out a filler blog entry in the meantime. So stay tuned!

    WOW! CONGRATULATIONS! They look incredible.
    Please, Please, PLEEEEAAASE post your recipe! I’ve been wanting to make macarons for a while now but haven’t found a good recipe (or thorough step by step instructions) and this flavour sounds wonderful!
